Activities
The Sunday morning adult education hour called Connections occurs between the early and late worship hours from September through May, beginning about 9:45 a.m. During these special discussion periods, we can be enlightened in any one of many ways. For example, we may hear a Friend tell us about his or her spiritual journey, a guest speaker from an organization of interest to Friends may come to describe their work, or the children may lead us in a production celebrating the holiday season. The Program Committee is responsible for planning the topics, and a list of upcoming topics is provided in the meeting newsletter and on this web site as well as on the bulletin board in the meetinghouse foyer.
Sunday Potluck Lunch occurs on the second Sunday of every month following the later Meeting for Worship. All who wish to enjoy this time of fellowship are encouraged to bring a dish to share.
Friendly Circles are small groups of Friends who meet together to delve into a topic of mutual interest. These topics can be anything from nature walks to Bible study, hymn singing to biking for peace. They just require a group of like-minded people and someone to organize the group. Friendly Circles start in the fall of each year with each identified group providing a sign-up sheet at the meetinghouse. Each group decides its own schedule and content for its meetings.
Newcomer Potlucks are held once a month from September through May in meeting members’ homes. The informal dinners are intended to include a mix of newcomers to the meeting as well as longer-time attenders so that folks can get to know one another in smaller groups and in a more relaxed setting than the bustle before and after Meeting for Worship on a Sunday morning. A sign-up sheet for hosts and attenders is provided in the foyer of the meetinghouse.
